Wholesome & Tasty Kodo Millet Porridge Recipe

Millet is a gluten-free whole grain that is a great replacement for rice, especially in your weight loss journey. Not only that but the millet seed is one of the first foods which is introduced to a baby in the form of pastes and porridges. Let's have a look at the Millet Porridge Recipe -


Kodo Millet Porridge


Ingredients:

  • 1/4 Cup Kodo Millet.

  • 1/8 Tsp Carom

  • 1/8 Tsp Cumin

  • 2 Black Pepper Corns

  • 1/8 Tsp Salt

  • A Pinch of Asafetida

  • 2 Tbsp dried berries

  • 1 Tbsp Melted butter

Directions:

  1. Dry roast the Kodo millet, Carom, Cumin, and peppercorns for 5 minutes on low flame and make grits using a mixer. Use 2 tbsp of grits for making 2 cups of porridge.

  2. In a 2 liter Pressure Cooker, add 1.5 cups water, salt, and asafetida.

  3. Cook on low fire for 15 minutes. You may get a whistle or two. Cooking on low flame prevents spewing. Open after pressure settles down.

  4. In a small pan add butter and roast the berries. Transfer it to the porridge. Serve warm. Studies show that people who want to lose weight should incorporate millet seeds in at least one of their main meals. So, the best one to lose weight will be to consume millet. Though in the long run, it is better to have a mix of all grains for overall nutrition for the body. This reduces the overall Kodo millet porridge carbs count as compared to other grains.
