But did you know that you could actually get pink lips through natural lip balms made out of beetroot powder? Well, this is how to make lip balm with beetroot powder.
Ingredients
3 tbsp oil (avocado, jojoba, castor, almond, coconut, or any combination; if using a tube, use a stickier oil like castor oil)
1 tbsp beeswax pastilles (or candelilla wax for a vegan alternative)
1 tbsp butter (you can also use shea butter, cocoa butter, and many more options in the market)
2 tbsp vegetable glycerin
2 tbsp organic beet powder
Beetroot Powder Lip Balm Recipe -
Mix beetroot powder and vegetable glycerin in a small bowl until the powder is fully saturated and paste-like.
Pour the mixture through your fabric, then twist and squeeze the fabric to strain out any gritty particles. If you’re using a muslin cloth, you should only have to do one pass through the fabric since it’s so finely threaded. However, if you still see tiny beetroot particles, run the mixture through the cloth again. Continue this until you have around 1 tablespoon worth of smooth, particle-free liquid pigment.
Next, fill a small saucepan with about 1 cup of water and place a glass measuring cup inside. Turn your range on to low heat and place your wax, butter, and oils inside the measuring cup.
Once melted, take off the heat and add your filtered beetroot powder and glycerin mixture and stir until thoroughly mixed. For a little extra shimmer and a minty feel on the lips, add a dash of mica and ~10 drops of the peppermint oil and stir a second time until everything is thoroughly mixed.
Pour mixture into a tiny glass jar or push tube and allow to cool.
